About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Journal is a digital media resource, which highlights problems of library studies and bibliography.

Mini Journal contains materials of reporting scientific conference of teaching staff and scientific workers of the Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University, section “Library studies and Bibliography”.

Journal activity is regulating by law of Ukraine, current state standards for library studies and publishing. 

Subject

discovering and studying of books kept in the stocks of the Scientific Library of the Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University and other higher school libraries;

•      publishing of materials on history of the Library and its book collection including books from the Rare Books and Manuscripts Department;

•      papers about private book collections, manuscripts and archives;

•      library biography studies;

•      highlighting of problems of innovation activity of modern library, improvement of quality of new methods of library work.

Open access policy

Journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge for a human progress.

Ethical standards for publications

Ethical standards for editorial board

Every submitted material for publication passes careful selection as well as external and internal reviewing. Editorial board has a right to reject to publish an article or return it for correction. The author must correct his article according to recommendations of reviewers or an editorial board.

According to international law in the part of compliance of author right to informational sources, materials of Journal can`t be reproduced completely or partially in any form (electronic or printed) without preliminary consent of authors and editorial board. The using of published materials in the context of other documents it is possible under the condition of referring to original work.

An editor must respect an author intellectual independence.

Ethical standards for authors

Authors bear all responsibility for content of their articles and for the fact of their publishing, for novelty and reliability of the results of scientific research.        In case of any violation of rights or common standards of scientific ethics editorial board has a right to withdraw even published article.

Authors must indicate clearly the sources of all cited and presented information and set out references on literary sources in the proper way.

Ethical standards for reviewers

A review must objectively evaluate quality of manuscript and presentation of information, give proper weigh to scientific and literary level of the article. A reviewer must respect an author intellectual independence.

A reviewer can’t evaluate manuscript if he is connected with the author professionally or personally and this connection can influence to its opinion about a manuscript.

Reviewer must consider manuscript submitted for review as a confidential document. A manuscript shouldn’t be given for examination or discussed with the third parties exepted cases when he needs a special consultation.

Reviewers must explain and argue their opinion appropriately in order to editors and authors could understand the base of their criticism.

A reviewer must bring his review in time.

Reviewing regulations

All materials are reviewed by members of an editorial board and/or external independent experts according to principles of objectivity and highest international academician quality standards.

An editorial board reserves the right to stylistic correct manuscript. Corrections which can change the sense of the text are agreed with an author.

An editorial board of scientific edition reserves the right to reject a manuscript not meet the requirements and subject of Journal.

Given materials are not returned and can’t be published in the other scientific journals.

Authors bear all responsibility in cases of the plagiarism detection in the given materials

Author Rights

The right holders of publication are authors as well as a founder of Journal on conditions determined by publishing agreement, concluded between editorial board and authors of articles. No part of published material can be reproduced without preliminary notification and permission of author.

Publication of works in Journal is non-profit.

The author gives to a publisher a non-profit non-exclusive license to use the article with the purpose of it to be published on the official web-site of the digital mini journal “Library Studies and Bibliography”. The author who gives a non-exclusive license keeps the right of using the article and giving a non-exclusive license to third parties.

Author has a right to publish his work with permission of an editorial board, reference to Journal and giving notice to the journal editorial board about publication of his work in the other mass media.
